Robert Pritchard - Professor of Psychology & Management, University of Central Florida

Title - Bridging the Gap Between Theory and Practice: The Case for Motivation

Robert Pritchard Robert D. Pritchard received his bachelor's degree in Psychology from UCLA in 1966 and his Ph.D. in 1969 from the University of Minnesota, special­izing in Industrial-Or­gani­zational Psychol­ogy. He was Assistant and later Associate Profes­sor of Psychology at Purdue University from 1969-1977. He was Professor of Psy­chol­ogy at the Uni­versity of Hous­ton from 1977-1988 where he also served as the Di­rector of the In­dustrial and Organi­zational Psychology Pro­gram. He was Professor of Psy­chology and Management at Texas A&M University from 1988-2003 and was the Director of the In­dustrial and Organi­zational Psychology there from 1988-1997. From Fall of 2003 he has been Professor of Psychology and Management at the University of Central Florida.
He has received several research awards such as the SIOP dissertation award and the SIOP Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award. He is a Fellow in SIOP, the American Psycho­logical As­so­ciation, and in the American Psychological Society, has been Chair­man of the So­ciety of Or­ganizational Behavior and President of the Houston Association of In­dustrial and Organiza­tional Psychol­ogists. He has been on the editorial boards of pro­fessional journals, is currently the Editor of the SIOP Organizational Frontiers book series, and is on the SIOP Executive Com­mittee. He was a member of the Commission on Incentives and Productivity for the state of Texas for five years and has been ap­pointed to the Board of Directors of the International Foundation for Research in Per­formance Management Sys­tems.
His primary interests are measuring and improving organiza­tional effectiveness and understanding and assessing motivation. He has worked on enhancing productivity and effectiveness with organi­zations in the United States and abroad. He was a member of a Na­tional Research Council panel reporting on or­gan­izational produc­tivity. He has pub­lished in the areas of motivation and productivity, in­cluding numer­ous articles and eight books. He has given workshops, sym­posia, and other pre­sentations on his produc­tivity work in the US, Canada, England, the Nether­lands, Germany, Switzerland, Finland, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Spain, the Czech Republic, Sweden, and Russia.


Stevan Rolls - UK Head of HR, Deloitte

Title - Can't I get marketing to do that?: Changing the perception of our impact as a profession.

Stevan Rolls Stevan’s early studies focused on behavioural science and the study of work values. He subsequently focused on researching job and competency analysis within the airline industry and the use of psychometric test interpretation in selection decision making. He has a PhD in applied psychology from Cranfield
Upon graduation Stevan moved into consulting, working in the areas of personality assessment, computer based testing, training and development for Selby Millsmith and then ASE. In 1994 Stevan joined Ford Europe as head of Organisational Development and Occupational Psychology. For the last 10 years he has worked in professional services as, variously, head of recruitment, head of employee relations and latterly more generalist HR for some of the largest firms in the sector. He is currently UK head of HR for Deloitte.
Outside of work he spends time with his family, writes and produces music and teaches Shotokan Karate.


Judith Hackitt CBE - Chair, Health and Safety Executive

Title - Health and Safety in the 21st Century - what role can you play in delivering the new strategy

Judith Hackitt Judith was appointed Chair of the Health and Safety Commission with effect from 1 October 2007 for a term of 5 years and became Chair of the Health and Safety Executive when the two organisations merged on 1 April 2008. Judith previously served as a Commissioner between 2002 and 2005. She was awarded her CBE for services to health and safety.
Judith returned in 2007 from an assignment as Director of the Chemistry for Europe project with the European Chemical Industry based in Brussels. She was Director of Business and Responsible Care (1998 - 2002) and Director General (2002 - 2006) at the Chemical Industries Association (CIA).
Judith worked for Exxon Chemicals for 15 years in various process management roles at Fawley. She was subsequently European Operations Director of a speciality pigments business before becoming Group Risk Manager at Elementis PLC with world-wide responsibility for health and safety insurance and litigation. She also served for three years as a non-executive Director of Oxfordshire Health Authority.
Judith trained as a Chemical Engineer at Imperial College, London and is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers, an Ordinary Member of Council of the Institution of Chemical Engineers, a Fellow of the City and Guilds Institute and an Honorary Vice President of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.
Judith holds no other Ministerial appointments nor is she engaged in any political activity.
