National Assessors in Health and Social Care

Introduction

The role of National Assessor's is to provide guidance to employers when recruiting and selecting Band 8c and above Applied Consultant Psychologists. National Assessors provide advice early in the recruitment and selection process for vacancies and new roles.

Contacting National Assessors early is essential to ensure that they can provide advice throughout the recruitment process. Assessors should be involved in the whole recruiting process including; defining job descriptions, considering person specifications, reviewing knowledge and skills outlines, advising on job advertisements, participating in the interview process and providing feedback to unsuccessful applicants. It should be noted that Assessors provide advice they do not have a vote on the interview panel.

In the first instance TWO National Assessors should be contacted:

One National Assessor must be from the specialty where the post is being recruited, the other Assessor may be from another specialty. However, both Assessors must be from outside of the recruiting Trust or employing organisation.
